Introduction
The Department of Political Science is one of the leading teaching departments of the Bacha Khan University Charsadda. Political Science deals with the various political, social and cultural arrangements through which people govern their lives. It attempts to interpret the past and explain the present and often dares to draw images of the future. As a field of study, it reaches to many levels from the evolution of political philosophy and the character of contemporary political concepts to the problems of development in emerging nations, from the crisis of governance in Pakistan to the interaction of State, Society and System in the international arena. Political scientists explore the concerns and issues that animate public life.
· To impart quality education so as to develop scientific temper and spirit of critical inquiry.
· To prepare the students for the competitive market-oriented environment.
· To prepare the students to respond to the cotemporary challenges and problems through scientific research
The Political Science seeks to provide students with a learning experience that will equip them to face the challenges of an increasingly complex job market and prepare them to become active and engaged citizens at the local, national and international levels. The political science program provides students with a broad-based political education that is grounded in the field’s theoretical traditions. This includes a strong background in the fundamental branches of our discipline: Pakistan’s politics, comparative politics, international politics, political theory and public administration. Political science students acquire practical experience and develop connections in the community through a variety of legal internships. Further, the department has designed the advanced courses under the guidelines of Higher Education Commission (HEC) 2020 policy through which students gain abilities to critically assess contemporary political events and identify practical solutions to social problems. Political science majors develop analytical and methodological skills that will serve them well regardless of their chosen profession.
