Introduction
The Department of Chemistry at Bacha Khan University Charsadda started functioning in September 2011. Initially, it was a campus of Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan. In July 2012, with the establishment of Bacha Khan University Charsadda (BKUC), it became a part of BKUC. In the Ist year of its establishment, M.Sc. Chemistry program was introduced but with the passage of time, the department grew up in all dimensions where MS/M.Phil & Ph.D. programs were started in 2014 respectively. Now department offers BS, MSc, MS/MPhil, and Ph.D. programs simultaneously in different fields of chemistry. The research facilities for the programs are well established. However, there is a constant endeavor to strengthen teaching and research facilities as well as to create a conducive environment for research activity
The Department of Chemistry, BKUC is
dedicated to the instruction, training, and strengthening the intellectual
growth of graduate and undergraduate students through active research. By
maintaining its research programs, the Department of Chemistry aims to enhance
the recognition and reputation of Bacha Khan University locally, regionally,
nationally, and internationally.
The objectives of the Department of Chemistry are to:
- Develop a strong
foundational knowledge of modern inorganic, organic, analytical, physical,
applied, and biological chemistry for the graduate and undergraduate
students. - Advance the skills in
applying modern laboratory methods and technological tools to the
graduates and undergraduates for studying the chemical systems. - Encourage
interdisciplinary research endeavors that build on and expand the research
network within BKUC.
Increase the depth and breadth of outreach activities and opportunities for technology transfer from the faculty and staff
to the people of Khyber Pukhtunkhwa Province and state.
Our mission is to develop the intellectual, technological, cultural, and economical condition of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province, and nation through the discovery and development of new knowledge in the field of chemistry.
